Stop the Coal Plant
San Antonio Contested Case Has Begun:
On May 18th, the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH) conducted the preliminary contested case hearing regarding City Public Service' (CPS) proposed 750 MW coal plant that would be sited at Calaveras Lake, on the Southeast side of San Antonio.
There was a great turnout and citizens provided explanations regarding how this plant would impact them. A twenty mile radius was set for the distance for affected party status, and several groups were granted standing, including SEED Coalition, Public Citizen, Jefferson Heights Neighborhood Association, and the City of China Grove. Smart Growth San Antonio is completing paperwork for the process, and many individuals were accepted as protestants.
We still believe there are cleaner, more affordable options to a polluting coal plant and invite you to join our efforts!
City Public Service (CPS)
San Antonio's City Public Service (CPS) plans to build a new 750 MW
coal-burning power plant. Cleaner, more affordable options exist, and CPS
should pursue energy efficiency and renewable energy in order to protect our
